There are two reasons why I'm posting this clip on the blog.

The first reason is this incredible breakdancing car and the second is the clip's hypnotically humorous soundtrack. Get your own car for $10 at Chinavasion. [Chinavasion]

World's Biggest Sweet Potato (24.9 Lbs or 11.2 Kg)

Lebanese farmer Khalil Semhat, from the southern city of Tyre, couldn't believe his peeled eyes when he discovered he had grown a massive potato weighing 11.3 kilos (24.9 pounds), setting a record for the world's largest potato.

Worlds Largest Marrow (113 Lbs or 65 Kg)

Grown by Ken Dade in Norfolk, the 65kg (113lbs) vegetable needed two men to carry it to a stand at the National Amateur Gardening Show in Somerset. The voluptuous vegetable has entered the Guiness World Records book, beating the previous world title holder by 3kg.

World’s Heaviest Jackfruit (76 Lbs or 34.4 Kg)

The sweet tasting fruit weighed 34.6kg (76lb 4.4oz), measured 57.46 cm (22.625in) long and had a circumference of 121.28 cm on 8 August 2003. It was grown by George and Margaret Schattauer of Captai Cook, Hawaii, USA. Native to Western India, the fruit spread throughout South East Asia and first came to Hawaii in 1888.

World's Largest Green Cabbage (76 Lbs or 34.4 Kg)

John Evans, a mechanical designer who lives 40 miles north of Anchorage in Palmer, Alaska, holds seven world records for giant vegetables. One of them is this Green Cabbage, who weighted over 76 lb, making it a world record in 1998.

World's Largest Watermelon (268.8 Lbs or 122 Kg)

Weighting 268.8 pounds, this watermelon made the cut as the world's largest watermelon. Grown at the Hope Farm Store by Lloyd Bright, his family has a long history with watermelons: they set world records in melon size in 1979 with a 200 pound melon and again in 1985 with one that weighed 260 pounds. Honda Insight - Let It Shine

Monday, April 27, 2009 | 0 Comments

Vimeo teamed up with Honda to create an Insight ad that makes the entire page a little light show.

Beyond the ad, the "making of" video below is worth a gander too, as it shows how Honda was able to create a large "LED screen" using hundreds of Insight automobiles. The idea of this commercial is really nice, but is as environmental friendly, as the creators of the ad claim? The gas and energy consumption for such a venture, however cool, must have been enormous. [Gizmodo]

MaSTURbaTE-a-ThON

Monday, April 27, 2009 | 0 Comments

The finacial crisis in the US is driving more and more people to find new ways to attract funds.

This Center for Sex & Culture in San Francisco found an unique solution: a Masturbate-a-thon broadcasted live on the Internet.

The masturbate-a-thon will feature separate women's and men's areas, as well as a mixed-gender area.

Those taking part in the event can give money for charity and then masturbate privately. The entry fee for this competition is between 15 and 25 $, depending on the seats.

The awards will be given to the person who can masturbate the longest, the longest distance a person can ejaculate and the most orgasms.

Special prizes will be awarded to those who can break the World Masturbation Record of 9 hours and 33 minutes for men and 7 hours and 6 minutes for women.

The whole event will take around 10 hours and I really hope they have some ambulances ready as there will probably be an overwhelming number of people suffering from severe exhertion. :)

Tangled phone lines are a common sight on the streets of Bangkok, so Procter & Gamble decided to take advantage of how they resembled long strands of tangled hair. To promote P&G's line of Rejoice conditioners, a large green comb was placed on the telephone lines, reading: "Tangles? Switch to Rejoice Conditioners."

Some crazy unknown people in New York, USA, decorated a wall with some nice shadows, illustrating a couple kissing.
Published on Urban Prankster, these drawings have a very nice effect. They could make upset people smile or maybe scare them off, as they walk by. Anyhow, the person who did this had a really nice idea, in my oppinion. What do you think?!

Now here's one thing that makes me proud to be a romanian.

Last weekend, as the romanian people celebrated the orthodox easter, the World Academy Records representatives homologated a 7.25 meter high Easter egg made in Suceava (north eastern Romania) measuring 4.6 meters in diameter and weighing 1,800 kg, as the biggest painted egg of the world.

The egg will bear a plate writing ‘the biggest Easter Egg of the World'.

Plates will be nailed all over the city to show the way to the Guinness Book giant egg. [Roumanie]

At 100, Emma Hendrickson is on a roll.
Less than a month after celebrating birthday No. 100, the Morris Plains woman became the oldest competitor in the 90-plus-year history of the U.S. Bowling Congress Women’s Championships in Reno, Nev.

Hendrickson rolled 115, 97 and 106 for a 318 series in team competition that didn’t end until early Sunday at the National Bowling Stadium. Her average is 120.
“I love bowling because I get to be with people, and because I’m not at home sitting on a rocking chair,” she said. Because her eyesight has diminished over the years, Hendrickson relies on teammates to help her line up spare attempts. She already has signed up to compete in the 2010 event in El Paso, Texas. It was nice outside, summer, we were many, many people travelling, from all over the world, as we had to get from one city to the other like some kind of caravan, at the Red Bull Romaniacs rally. As we arrived in Drobeta Turnu Severin, a town in the south-eastern area of Romania, on a parking place, there was this interesting trash, with this sticker on it and as I got closer, I found out there was a BabY on BoarD. Really cool, isn't it? Nowadays babys live, or travel in the same place with the trash. Maybe that is the way they get punnished.

A parish council is considering leaving potholes in its roads to slow down traffic, describing them as "the original traffic calming measure". They will also save hedgehogs, keep rates down and help to keep unwanted people out.

Writing in the newsletter of Navestock Parish Council in Essex, Great Britain, Mike Parrish said: "Potholes cost a lot to repair and that's our rates. Coupled with potholes there is an ongoing cry for speed limits. Well, potholes are the original traffic calming measure. So what with saving much time, rates and calming the traffic, potholes seem quite friendly."

He later elaborated: "We decided to keep a designated main road through the village in repair and let the rest got to pot. It will mean drivers and cyclists drive more carefully and slowly."

The council's vice chairman Adrian Enkel agreed. "It's worth a shot. We'll see how it goes," he said. "The roads here have a natural speed limit because of the state of the surface."

But another councillor described the idea as a "dereliction of duty". [20min]

After "Il Caimano" (The Caiman) by Nanni Moretti and "Bye Bye Berlusconi" by Jan Henrik Stalberg, another movie about the Italian head of government and media entrepreneur Silvio Berlusconi, puts the cat among the pigeons. The pay-TV channel Sky Italia broadcasted this week the film "Shooting Silvio", a description about a plan to assassinate the well-known politician. This debut feature from young director Berardo Carboni, triggered some heavy debates. Berlusconi's ruling coalition accused the TV station of the Australian media magnate, as well as Silvio Berlusconis competitor Rupert Murdoch, that they incite the population to violence. If you havent seen the movie yet, here's the trailer of "Shooting Silvio". [Krone]

Bo ObaMa - AmeRicaS FiRsT DoG

Wednesday, April 15, 2009 | 0 Comments

It was the campaign promise everyone was waiting to see fulfilled: Bo the First Dog finally joined US President Barack Obama and his family at the White House on Tuesday.

"I finally got a friend," Obama quipped as his daughter Malia paraded Bo before a swarm of press photographers and cameras on the White House lawn. "We are very pleased with Bo."

Bo had been a campaign promise to Obama's daughters Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7, which the president revealed to the world on the night of his November 4 election victory.

A six-month-old Portuguese water dog, Bo's arrival ends more than two months of heated speculation that rivalled many of Obama's more serious policy announcements.

Obama's wife Michelle joined the family in their first stroll with Bo outside the White House.

Bo is the first dog owned by any of the Obamas. Malia has allergies, which limited their choices to hypoallergenic breeds like the Portuguese water dog and the Labradoodle. [LA Times]

According to Bild Germany, he stated: "If the baby doesnt get enough air, the 10 months-old camel will have a heat-shock and die". Now, Elina looks rather like a poodle, but it feels apparently very good ...

What do you do, when you have too much free time, five friends and a great passion for basketball? You train playing basketball. :) Butyou don't do any kind of training! Throwing basketballs from the strangest positions would be one type of exercice you might want to experiment: sitting on a chair behind the basket, throwing from the rooftop, from the neighbors yard, in a basketball basket mounted on a car, in motion and so on ... It's pretty amazing that the authors of this clip hit the basket every time! And their executions would make even LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal jealous! Check it out!

The tweenbot, a cardboard-bodied, cheerful little bugger, is equipped with a flag stating its intended destination. Since it can only move forward, it depends on the kindness of strangers to guide it and remove obstacles.

Tisch School of the Arts student Kacie Kinzer created the tweenbot as a kind of art experiment. In her words:

I wondered: could a human-like object traverse sidewalks and streets along with us, and in so doing, create a narrative about our relationship to space and our willingness to interact with what we find in it? More importantly, how could our actions be seen within a larger context of human connection that emerges from the complexity of the city itself? To answer these questions, I built robots.

In New York City, we might expect the smiley-faced tweenbot to be stabbed, stomped, mugged, or covered in graffiti, but every single one of the journeys was completed without a hitch. Pedestrians would stop and help the little guy when he was trapped against a curb or headed into traffic, and point him in the right direction.
